There was so much more I wanted to write in my last post, but I chose to leave it the way it was and come back to add a part 2 after I got my thoughts for the rest in order. I am thankful for our hard times. I truly am. They have produced a faith that I never thought I would have and they have brought about the most glorious times we can remember. They have taught me how to praise, how to trust and most of all, how to obey the leading of God in our life. I've said it before, but I'll reiterate it here...I don't mention rough times to get you to say "Oh, poor thing". I mention them because I've learned something so valuable that I would be a fool not to share. In the midst of any type of situation, there is ALWAYS something to smile about. Our Pastor taught us something on Sunday. The word "circumstance" comes from two words that mean encircled and stand. You can be encircled by issues in life. What stood out to me most was the word STAND. You might be surrounded by issues, but you are still STANDING! You've not been taken out yet, you are standing and if Jesus is the rock you are standing on you shall not fall. Oftentimes our "hard times" are just circumstances. Circumstances come in a variety of ways; brought on by others, by self or it is just plain life happening at inconvenient times. Sometimes those things seem to pile on top of each other until they eventually seem to block out the sun and leave you in that perpetual darkness that I mentioned in my last post. I want to encourage you though that perpetual darkness is NOT the end of the story. Your enemy does not have the last say!!! 28 For You will light my lamp; This passage of scripture set joy flowing through me last night. He is the lighter of the darkness, He picks us up from the low places and puts us in high places. His hand holds us up and His salvation shields us. Our paths will be enlarged by Him, the same God who enables us to overtake and destroy our enemies! We are already equipped for the battles we face and that in itself deserves a HUGE Hallelujah!
When we are faced with tough things I pray that we always remember that there are truths to be found if we look hard enough. That even though sometimes we can see nothing, God sees EVERYTHING and is the guide of our life. We can trust Him to bring us through the "ugly" and into the "beautiful". ~Michelle
